is the new way of funding support for disabled people in the MidCentral DHB.
Based on the principles of Enabling Good Lives, Mana Waikaha is a prototype of a transformed disablity support system. If you would like to find out more, click here
Kaituhono or Connectors are the people who can help you navigate the new system. To find out more about Connectors, this link
will take you through to the Mana Whaikaha page that explains about what Connectors do.
Within the new system there is the option for disabled people to work with an Independent Connector. An independent connector is one option
- along with the Mana Whaikaha Connectors and representing yourself. For more information about your options, click here
Independent Connectors are part of the "Choosing Someone You Know" option.
Project Happen has been accepted as being competent to work with families as Independent Connectors. Because we are Independent, we are able to manage our own referrals and time. This means that people/families we work with are likely to experience a quicker process than some are presently experiencing. Independent Connectors are paid by Mana Whaikaha.
As independent Connectors, our role is to remain impartial. We do not endorse any particular organisation or support service. We also do not take referrals directly from any organisation or support service. Our aim is to work alongside disabled people, their families and Mana Waikaha, supporting the new system as it evolves through the process of "try, learn, adjust".
If you think that you would like an Independent Connector, (or would like to find out more), please contact us directly using the link below.
